Someone asked if these pictures were around the time Harrison Ford went to Graeme Stewart School. I was born in 1944 and he was born in 1942 so I don't think he would have been in my class.

Hi Marilynne,
I am in the top row - fourth from the left with the uncombed hair. I was suppose to be a gypsy. I didn't want to wake my Mom so I left without combing my hair and I don't believe that orange sweater was suppose to be part of the outfit. It is so funny, I picked you out in this picture. I couldn't think of anyone else being you. You are sitting next to Ingrid and Susan.

I'm at cheryld@roydeters.com

Hi,
Roxanne is in the top row second from the right, correct? She is in the back row also in the second picture, kind of in the middle, without looking at the picture I think two away from me. Barbara Rosenbrook was the first one in the back row on the left. Do you remember her? She was in my second picture as well. Sharon and Joan are in both pictures as well. Sharon is in the first row with you - the first one on the left.
I can't believe I remember so many of their names. This is totally unbelievable.

Yes, Joan was sitting next to Susan. What was the girl's name in the top row second from the right? I remember her name to be Roxanne. Which girl is Linda? And which one is Roxanne? Are they both in the first row?

Good Morning Marilynne,
I was positive that was Roxanne. I remember Linda but for some reason I thought her name was different. I believe she was good friends with Susan and Joan. The boy behide Sharon, first girl sitting on left, is Ron.Do you remember the blonde girl's name next to Roxanne holding the mask? I remember her being real shy. The boy right behind you moved to Ohio. He lived in the building next to me on Leland. Actually, his building faced Sheridan Road. I want to call him Junior but I am probably wrong. I broke a lead pencil off in his shoulder during school. It was an accident but I don't exactly remember what happened. Jerry or David Noice is the boy with the blonde hair and short white sleeve shirt in the other picture you aren't in. Do you remember the girl's name to the right of me - 5th from the left. I thought it was Jane. She had red hair. Also, the girl next to her, 6th from the left, was her name Joyce? I don't remember too many of the boys names. I would have loved to have gone to Stewart School longer. The kids were really nice. I remember Sharon being a real sweetheart. She lived down from the stone churce on Sheridan off of Wilson. I think Susan lived close to Lake Shore Drive. I remember having to ask her if her father would drive my stepgrandfather to Hines Hospital. He was real sick and I believe he did us the favor.
I moved to Three Rivers MI to live with my Dad when I was in 5th Grade and I think I came back to Stewart School to finish 5th grade as things didn't work out there. I lived with my Grandma for a while and she was still on Lawrence. I am trying to tie up loose ends in my childhood. I'm going to get in touch with the school and see what information they can give me about when I originally left in 3rd grade and when I started school. I don't know if I went there in first grade or not. I have visions of going to St. Thomas of Canterbury during first grade. I am checking with them as well. I sent an Email yesterday.

I am so looking forward to seeing your pictures. Maybe if you find others from when you went to Stewart School you could post them as well. I would love to see how people changed as they grew up.

I have been on such a wonderful journey for the passed two weeks since I first wrote on this site. I was able to get in touch with a classmate, Marilynne Marcos or I should say she got in touch with me. We have been talking on the phone for over a week now sharing such great memories and I have found out that all these memories I have had in my head were correct and not just a dream. We have developed such a great bond and I know we will stay in touch for a very long time.I was also able to locate my friend Barbara Rosenbrook through her brother Fred. I had such a great conversation with Fred and a lot of laughs. If was so nice talking to Barbara as well. I hope we can stay in touch and share more memories of the Uptown area and our lives as they are today.

Joanne, thank you so much for the site and all the hard work you do to make it so very special. I am still hoping to make contact with other friends from Stewart School and I truly feel I will. I now know anything is possible after what I have already been able to accomplish.

Also, the pictures that have been posted are wonderful. It is so nice to see what Sheridan and Leland once looked like. I lived on Leland first building off of Sheridan Road across from Graysons. My building has since been torn down and replaced with a rehab center, I believe. So cool. I can't wait to see what else will be poping up on this site.

Thank you again.

I have recently found out that I returned to Graeme Stewart School on 9/7/1955-9/30/1955 for the beginning of 6th grade. I have traced my grade school education all the way from Kindergarten at St. Thomas of Canterbury through my graudation of 8th grade. We moved a great deal from the time I left Graeme Stewart School in 1952 until we settled in the southern suburbs of Chicago in 1955. I have filled in all the blanks and have answered all my questions about where I went to school and where I lived. I feel complete now having all the empty spaces filled in and in the interum of all of this I was able to locate my best friend from first grade through part of third grade as well as connected with a girlfriend from second grade, Marillynne Marcos. What an unexpected surprise and a very big plus to this experience. I would still love to find more friends from Graeme Stewart School. I know it is still possible through this wonderful site.
