1953 Graffiti Claim in Uptown, at Wilson

Graffiti in Uptown is nothing new, but at least this is legible. Can't say the same for much of the stuff I read on the walls these days.

This photo was taken along the lakefront at Wilson Avenue in 1953. Image for sale on eBay here: Wilson Avenue Lakefront

Update from reader Bill Matteson: This is not Graffiti. It is a claim. What we did in those days was to stake out our territory on the rocks; this is where we put our towels, caught some sun, and swam. No other group would violate another group's territory. We had squares and designs and our names, this group was not very artistic.

Thanks for the correction! That's even more interesting. I'll add it to the post itself.
