Hi! I'm making a website for the new Beacon Block Club, may I use some of these photos for the site? I will of course link your blog!
Just let me know which ones you'd like to use. Many of these come from my personal collection; for others I received permission to post them. E-mail me at blog(a)compassrose.com.
Howdy everyone, I just signed up on this superb community forum and desired to say aloha! Have a extraordinary day!
Raging arguement between old Uptown kids. Back in the 50's Broadway had several auto dealers. Kailer-Youngquist Olds, the Cadillac dealership on Foster and Broadway, and the Chevrolet dealership on the east side of Broadway, just north of Lawrence. (Was the restaurant on the corner the Golden Pheasant or was that later?). Does anyone remember the name of the dealership before it was sold to Arnie Yusim?
Re Raging Argument 3/13/2010: I thought the Golden Pheasant was on Wilson just west of Broadway. Wasn't the restaurant at Lawrence and Broadway called Peter Pan something?
these photos were beautiful! Where did you find them?

Are there any photos of the car dealerships that were located on the 5000 N. block of Broadway in the 60's or 70's ? My father bought & owned Dick McFeely Pontiac (formerly Charles Hearn Pontiac)at 5300 N. Broadway from 1975 to 1980. Also there was Arnie Yusim Chevrolet & Fanning Cadillac. Thank You - Tim McFeely
Arnie Yusim chevy was Yarnall chevolet..Remember the ford dealer, then a plymouth dealer on the corner of Argle and Broadway(sw corner) now a chinese restaurant.. Jerry
Yarnell-Todd Chevrolet. I lived around the corner during the 1960's
Yep peter pan northeast corner. Back in the mid sixties I watch a lady get blown into one of big plate glass windows on the Lawrence side by a blast of wind. I think she was cut pretty bad. I was about 7 or 8 at the time 55 now.
Does anyone know when this building came down and what immediately replaced it? Thanks!
