Are there any photos of the car dealerships that were located on the 5000 N. block of Broadway in the 60's or 70's ? My father bought & owned Dick McFeely Pontiac (formerly Charles Hearn Pontiac)at 5300 N. Broadway from 1975 to 1980. Also there was Arnie Yusim Chevrolet & Fanning Cadillac. Thank You - Tim McFeely

I was recently cleaning out my grandpa's old photos, and I found a picture of my grandma at a table at The Latin Quarter. The photo is inside a paper booklet provided by the club. I was happy to find your post so I could learn a little something about this moment in her history. There were a few other photos like this from different clubs, so Grandma liked to have a good time.

Thank you for post the picture of Connie Krause and the 3 girls, whom one of them pictured is of myself. It's so sad to see this organization closing. It has helped so many, including my parents, 4 brothers and myself. My brothers and I were able to do things like overnight camp and many more things that we would never had been able to do otherwise if it wasn't for the Uptown Hull House Center first located on Wilson Ave. and then moved into their own building on Beacon St. They will always have a spot in our hearts. I'm very disappointed with our government that they were not able to help keep the organization open. It's a big loss for not only the city but for all the people who were able to benefit for all their services provided.

They tore down Rainbo and that's something they should have more of on the north & south sides. Those roller rinks were great on the weekends and kept kids off the streets.

They've sorts figured that out with the ice rink at Wrigley which is great because you don't have to trek downtown to Millennium Park.

They should have mini roller & ice rinks just like the old days. It's good exercise in the winter as well in spring & summer.

I too went to the "rink" loved Adele Scott at the organ and although I never learned to skate backwards, they was a gal named Carolyn who did great and the guys were great.

i enjoyed reading all the posts about the uptown area. i also went to stewart school and then on to stockton when it was a junior high/middle school. i was one of the first girls to get to attent lane tech but we moved to indiana before i graduated. there were so many things i missed when we moved like the uptown theater and goldblatts store and gigio's pizza. i missed the diversity that i grew up with, living on sheridan road for 16 years. i have only returned twice. i was surprised to see the buena memorial presbyterian church torn down. i went to that church my whole childhood!! Thanks for so many memories though! it made me smile!!

Yes I remember Stewart schools Mr, Conway by that time he was asst Principal and Mr B was Phys Ed teacher. I was a Boy scout and later an Explorer Post 2819 at Peoples Church Troop 819 from 65-70, In retrospect looking back those were good days. Also taking that Bus to the end of the line and walking to Camp Ft Dearborn, We lived near Lakeside/Sheridan and my weekends were spent many times at the Lakeside Theater for the 3 horror movies for 25 cents. In 1990s I chartered a Sea Scout ship and revived our old troop number using 5819, We ran about 12 years chartered by the American Indian Center, Funny how we return to our past after traveling the world,
