Goodness, I feel like a teenager walking to school or my friends house or the In & Out grocery store that was next to Como's Pizzeria.. this house was part of my daily commute for 20 years! It stood out like a sore thumb bordered by a block of small shops and a large apartment building on Wilson, while Hermitage remained a residential block. I always wondered what it was and who lived there, it went through several paint changes and at some point a large fence was built around it. Now that I live out in the burbs, I fondly recall what an interesting and diverse neighborhood I grew up in.. walking by the American Indian Center then the Abbott Hospital to meet my mother at Ravenswood Hospital everyday before heading to McPherson Elementary... great to reminisce.
