I sent this photo to some of the "Winthrop Avenue Family" to see if they could identify the little African-American girl. Her name was Elaine Gordon and she lived at 4641 N Winthrop. (At that time, the 4600 block of Winthrop was still primarily black, a holdover from the days when it was the only legally segregated street in Uptown. Stewart was the school most of the Winthrop children attended.) They said she lives out West now, but that they would be sure to let her know about this posting.
Isn't this around the time Harrison Ford and his younger brother went to school there? He was known as "Harry" back then.
