A Walking Tour of Uptown and Andersonville

Uptown has made it into an official walking tour guidebook of Chicago! Walking Chicago: 31 Tours of the Windy City's Classic Bars, Scandalous Sites, Historic Architecture, Dynamic Neighborhoods, and Famous Lakeshore has a seven-page walking tour with map of our area. The tour starts at Wilson and Broadway.

The author is Ryan Ver Berkmoes, who also wrote The Official Chicago Bar Guide and the first edition of Lonely Planet's Chicago guidebook.

It also goes through Edgewater, are they making any stops there?

The route takes the walker past the Edgewater Beach Apartments, all that's left of the Edgewater Beach Hotel complex, and along the Bryn Mawr historic district. If you click the link in the post where it says "Walking Chicago," it will take you directly to the book and you can search the pages to see the entire route. Something nice to do, perhaps, when guests are in town.

It's too bad that the Rosehill Cemetary is a bit further north. There is a great deal of interesting history there.

I agree. Rosehill could be another whole walking tour itself.
