Thank you for post the picture of Connie Krause and the 3 girls, whom one of them pictured is of myself. It's so sad to see this organization closing. It has helped so many, including my parents, 4 brothers and myself. My brothers and I were able to do things like overnight camp and many more things that we would never had been able to do otherwise if it wasn't for the Uptown Hull House Center first located on Wilson Ave. and then moved into their own building on Beacon St. They will always have a spot in our hearts. I'm very disappointed with our government that they were not able to help keep the organization open. It's a big loss for not only the city but for all the people who were able to benefit for all their services provided.

I worked as one of the VISTA Volunteers at the Uptown Center from April 13, 1966 until the end of January 1967. Volunteers assisted the paid staff with recreation activities including a summer day camp program. Some worked with seniors and others did outreach and community organization. I also assisted the center's social worker with gathering information regarding the welfare of children in one of the neighborhood's large families.
