Happy Thanksgiving, Uptown! How are you spending the holidays? I'll be heading out to see my cousin John, who is hosting Thanksgiving with his new wife, Ann. They live in Old Irving, an area known for its Queen Anne, Victorian, and Italianate-style houses as well as its numerous bungalows. Their town house is about a half block away from Carl Schurz High School, which John's father attended. Like me, John grew up in the Western Suburbs, but I think it's so cool that he is now living in the same area his dad grew up in, just as I am now living in the same area my parents were raised.
